Second stop, the Olga's. Because it wasn't enough to wake up before dawn and head out to Uluru for a 10 km hike around the base, we decided that it would be a great idea to go walkabout at the Olga's as well. The Olga’s are another rock formation within Kata Tjuta National Park. The Olga’s are also known as Kata Tjuta. There are several good bush walking tracks at the Olga’s which include the Walpa Gorge track, and the Valley of the Winds Track. We tackled the Walpa Gorge track first thing after arriving at Kata Tjuta and took about 1 hour to complete. Several days later we came back for the Valley of the Winds walk which is about 8 kilometers total. This walk consists of some fairly rugged terrain through boulder strewn canyons and some decent flatland desert walking. The Olga’s, like Uluru, are an ancient rock formation dating back hundreds of millions of years, and it wouldn’t be all that unexpected to turn a corner and find a herd of dinosaurs standing around munching on the spinifex. It would be quite startling, but not unexpected in this ancient land.
